How to install the Fleetrak app and enroll your phone
A guide for drivers and operators. Follow the steps in order: in about ten minutes your Android phone or tablet is linked to the vehicle and starts sending its location. No technical skills needed.

Step 1
Before you start
Have these three things at hand. If anything is missing, ask your company before you go on.
- An Android phone or tablet running Android 8 or newer.
- The enrollment code or QR your company gave you. It is valid for 24 hours.
- Internet the first time (Wi-Fi or mobile data). After that the app works even with no signal.
Have an iPhone? The app is not available for iPhone yet: ask your company for the Traccar Client setup, a free app from the App Store.
Step 2
Download the app
Open this page on the phone and tap the “Download” button. The file is called fleetrak.apk and ends up in Downloads.
Looking for the latest version…
If the browser warns that the file might be harmful, tap “Download anyway”: that is normal for apps that do not come from the Play Store.
Step 3
Allow the install
Open the downloaded file (from the notification or from Downloads). Android warns “For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source”: tap “Settings”, turn on “Allow from this source” and go back.
If Google Play Protect shows up, tap “More details” and then “Install anyway”.
Does your phone show a different screen? Find your brand
- Samsung
- Settings › Apps › ⋮ menu › Special access › Install unknown apps › Chrome (or “My Files”) › turn on “Allow from this source”.
- Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO
- Settings › Apps › Permissions › Install unknown apps (on some models under Privacy › Special permissions) › Chrome › “Allow”. If a countdown warning appears, wait and accept.
- Motorola, Pixel and others
- Settings › Apps › Special app access › Install unknown apps › Chrome › turn on “Allow from this source”.
Step 4
Install and open the app
Tap “Install” and wait a few seconds. When it finishes, tap “Open”. From now on you will find it among your apps as Fleetrak.
Step 5
Enroll the phone
The app opens the “Enroll device” screen. Enter your code in one of these ways and confirm.
- Tap “Scan QR” and point the camera at your company’s QR: “Server” and “Enrollment code” fill in by themselves.
- Or type the code in “Enrollment code” and check that “Server” has the address your company gave you.
- If you got a link on WhatsApp, open it on the phone and tap “Open in the app”.
- Read the notice, tick “I have read and accept the privacy notice” and tap “Enroll”.
Step 6
Grant the permissions
Go to the “Permissions” tab. Under “Permissions to keep tracking in the background”, tap “Grant” on each one, in order, until they all say “Done”.
- 1. LocationWithout it the app does not know where the vehicle is.
- 2. Location “Allow all the time”So it keeps recording with the screen off or while you use another app.
- 3. NotificationsShows the permanent notice while it works and tells you about messages from dispatch.
- 4. Unrestricted batteryStops battery saving from shutting it down halfway through the day.
- 5. Autostart and battery (manufacturer)Some brands close apps on their own: the app tells you what to tap and opens that screen.
Where step 5 is on each brand
- Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO
- Security › Permissions › Autostart: enable Fleetrak. Then Battery › App battery saver: “No restrictions”.
- Huawei and Honor
- Phone Manager › App launch: turn off “Manage automatically” for Fleetrak and enable auto-launch, secondary launch and run in background.
- Oppo, Realme and OnePlus
- Security › Privacy permissions › Autostart: enable Fleetrak. In Battery, allow background activity.
- Vivo
- Settings › Battery › Background power consumption (or iManager › Autostart): allow Fleetrak.
- Samsung
- Settings › Battery › Background usage limits: remove Fleetrak from “Sleeping apps” and “Deep sleeping apps”, and set it to “Unrestricted”.
Step 7
Start tracking and check
Go back to the “Status” tab and tap “Start tracking”. A permanent Fleetrak notification shows up at the top: that means it is working.
- Ask your supervisor to look at “Live” on the web: your vehicle appears on the map within seconds.
- If you lose signal, that is fine: the app stores every point on the phone and sends them on its own when the connection is back.
- Do not turn off the phone’s location while you work.
Step 8
Common problems
Tap a question to see the answer. If none of this fixes it, talk to your company: they can see your phone’s status on the web.
It will not let me install the app
Go back to step 3: “Allow from this source” is still off for the browser or for “My Files”. If Play Protect shows up, tap “More details” and “Install anyway”. Also check that the phone runs Android 8 or newer.
The code expired or does not work
Each code is valid for 24 hours and works only once. Ask your company for a new one (they create it on the web, in the vehicle’s Device tab) and scan it again.
My vehicle does not show up on the map
In the “Permissions” tab every item must say “Done”, especially unrestricted battery. Check that you tapped “Start tracking” and that the phone’s location is on. With no signal, the position arrives when the connection is back.
I had an older version and the update fails
The new version normally installs on top without losing anything. If Android says it cannot install because it conflicts with the app you already have, the old one was signed with another key: uninstall it only if your company’s support tells you to, because points not sent yet are lost.
I moved to another company
No need to reinstall: in the “Diagnostics” tab tap “Switch establishment” and enroll again with the new company’s code. Old points are never sent to the new company.
Are you the fleet manager? The code and the QR are created in Fleet › vehicle page › Device tab; you can also share them on WhatsApp from there.
That is it: with the app enrolled, the permissions granted and tracking started, the phone works on its own. If you switch phones, repeat this guide with a new code.
